Sport
Sporting arrangements at SSHS are as follows:

1. Weekly Integrated Sport which will be a competition between teams.
 
      a. Ladders are maintained and displayed on the sports notice board.
      b. Best and fairest players named each week.
      c. A report of games will be placed in the sports noticeboard

2. Combined High School Knockout Competitions

     a. Entry into CHS competitions is by school nomination where staff are prepared to coach teams
     b. These games are organised between schools on an individual basis.

3. School Carnivals in Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country

4. Various knockout Competitions organised by local sporting clubs e.g. the Balmain League 7 a side.

5. Gala Days primarily for years 7 & 8 where other school teams meet at central venues for a day of
   Round Robin Competitions.

Students wear the sports uniform to school on sports days

House Sport
Weekly sport takes place on an integrated house basis. This takes place in double periods each week
Competitions are organised so that over the period of four years in the junior school, each major sport is played. PE specialist teachers teach the classes. Usually the competitions are one term, or about 9 weeks long and a ladder is kept with points allocated to houses.
Students when playing these games must wear the sports uniform. The school supplies equipment and means of identification for the students.
Sports organization

1. The sports notice board will contain information on  
        a. Weekly organization for house sport will be displayed on the sports notice board near the canteen
        b. Students must read the information regularly and know the organization for their sports day    including
           i. where they are playing, 
           ii. the opposition team and
           iii. their teacher refereeing the game


c. Correct equipment will be provided e.g. bibs, footballs, bats etc. Care of this is essential and student will assist in packing the equipment into kit bags at the end of the sports period.


d. Other sport information including CHS teams and draws will be placed on the notice board.


2. A sports assembly is held each Tuesday morning at which
         a. Various sports reports will be given
         b. Sports organization and routines explained
         c. The nominations for Sportsperson of the week and the winner of that award will be announced.


 
Mr Mortimer Sports Organiser congratulaters Murtaz Tahiri on his
outstanding succes in 2008. Murtaza was school age champion in Athletics and Cross Country, Zone and Regional age champion at Athletics and received a bronze medal at the CHS State cross country championship. Murtaza was a worthy winner of the Junior Sportsman of the year award.
